For breathtaking adventure from the top of a mountain, looking forever out over a forest of karst stalagmites, take the hours long walk above Zhangjiejia through the Wulingyuan Scenic Area. The path is safe (though there were times like this when I considered hanging my own prayer flag!), and the views are spectacular.
