Suzhou is one of the earliest birthplaces of Bonsai art in China. Some 500 ancient trees are on display at the Lingering Gardens along with mahogany furniture, screens, streams, rock formations, flowers, and picture windows. Wooden buildings and passageways evoke images of concubines sliding around on bound feet in gorgeous silks. A truly enchanting experience.
